OpenID Authentication in ImpactECS

ImpactECS can use OpenID Connect authentication to authenticate users. OpenID Connect allows ImpactECS to authenticate users without managing its own list of users and passwords. For more details on OpenID Connect refer to the OpenID foundation website: https://openid.net/connect/faq/.

OpenID Connect authentication is only available in ImpactECS Web Application and is only supported for ImpactECS versions 7.5.5264 or higher.

Before using OpenID Connect authentication in ImpactECS, following configuration steps need to be performed:

1.Application registration on the authorization server – This varies from one authorization server to another. This step is performed by someone with appropriate rights on the authorization server. After this configuration step is performed, the authorization server admin will provide with values of two settings: authority and client id.

2.ImpactECS Web Application Configuration – The information obtained from step 1 needs to be stored in the ImpactECS Web Application settings. This step is performed by an ImpactECS Server administrator.

3.ImpactECS Server Configuration – Once the authorization server and the web application are correctly configured, open id users need to be added to ImpactECS Server. This step needs to be performed by an ImpactECS Server Administrator.
